The BALLE Leadership Summit offers a full agenda of thoughtful, inspiring programming – and we also know that some of the most valuable time you’ll spend at the Summit won’t be in sessions at all! We’ve made sure there is both spaciousness and intention to support you in making the connections you need to further your work, having the conversations that best serve the moment we are in, and finding the space to relax and rejuvenate surrounded by nature.

While you’re here, we hope you’ll take advantage of…

1:1 Connections
Everyone participating in the BALLE Leadership Summit is an expert on some local economy issues – and also a lifelong learner. What wisdom can you offer? What guidance do you seek? Which leaders would you introduce to each other, and with whom do you most need to speak?

Rather than organize formal mentorship as in years past, at this year’s Summit we’re encouraging everyone to opt in to 1:1 Connections by facilitating the connections everyone around you needs. There will be physical Connection Cards available throughout the event as well as BALLE staff and designated “weavers” to facilitate introductions. Pin your Connection Card to the board in our main event hall when a connection has been made – by Friday we’ll have a demonstration of just how strong this network is!

To help our team facilitate introductions, when you register for the Summit, be sure to designate the topics you’d like to discuss with other participants so we can play matchmaker!

As we all engage in offering introductions and participating in connections, we will begin to weave a clearer picture of the ecosystem we represent – from entrepreneurs and funders to media-makers and community leaders of all kinds. Our shared goal? To accelerate building healthy, equitable local economies that work for all.

Regional Lunch Breakout Tables

Asilomar Amenities
Asilomar is a unique and beautiful place, tucked into the cypress groves on California’s Central Coast. Walk the beach, follow the boardwalk, hike through the woods or the dunes, and take in endless views of bright teal waters and crashing surf. Relax. Breathe. Re-center, so you can go home ready to take on the work our local communities need most. Find more about how to enjoy the grounds at Asilomar on their website.
