Scott Marquardt Vice President, Southwest Initiative Foundation Hutchinson, MN Shift Capital | Funding / Investment Southwest Initiative Foundation facilitates opportunities for economic and social growth by developing and challenging leaders to build on the region’s assets. Scott joined the Southwest Initiative Foundation in 2007 and is engaged in its economic development programs including business finance, entrepreneurship, and general economic development, in addition to serving as lead staff to the Investment Committee. Prior to joining the Foundation, Scott was Economic Development Director for the City of Montevideo, Minnesota, where he managed economic development projects and programs related to business retention and expansion, housing, business recruitment, community marketing, business finance, commercial building rehabilitation, and other special projects. Scott currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Nonprofits Assistance Fund, a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) based in Minneapolis, in addition to serving as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership. He is also a member of the Blandin Foundation Broadband Strategy Board, a member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Education and Certification Advisory Committee, and the current chair of the Economic Development Association of Minnesota (EDAM) Professional Development Committee. He received Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of South Dakota. He is also a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) through the IEDC and a certified Economic Development Finance Professional through the National Development Council.
