Maria is a Tribal member and Assistant Planning & Economic Development Director/ Real Estate Development Director for the Spokane Tribe of Indians who leads projects that benefit the health and well-being of the residents of the Reservation.

Maria Elena Cullooyah is the Assistant Planning & Economic Development Director/ Real Estate Development Director for the Spokane Tribe of Indians in Wellpinit, Washington. She is a Spokane Tribal member, born and raised on the Spokane Indian reservation in Stevens County, Washington.  While working full time, Maria attained her Bachelor of Science, Business Management degree in 2013, continued the Master’s program receiving her MBA in spring 2017. She was Planner of the Month in the state of WA in May of 2017 and was featured in a cover story in the Inlander, July 2017. Prior work done was a 1.4 million dollar Child Care Center, managed a 1.3 million dollar Senior Center. Maria was Team member of the HUD Community Challenge Grant in developing the Sustainable Community Master Plan. She has joined the Tribe’s Court Appointed Special Advocate for youth, is a board member of Spokane Tribal Network to aid in sustaining a healthy lifestyle, and also sits on the TERO Commission. She enjoys her work and her passion is for her community. Born in Chewelah, Washington, she lives with her family in Ford, WA.
