State Representative Leanne Krueger-Braneky represents Pennsylvania’s 161st Legislative District in Delaware County. Leanne made history in 2015 as the first woman to represent the district, flipping a seat controlled by Republicans since the Tea Party wave of 2010. A progressive champion and tireless advocate for women, school kids, the environment, and working families, Leanne serves on the Childen & Youth, Environmental Resources & Energy, Labor & Industry, and Liquor Control committees in the Pennsylvania House. Prior to elected office, Leanne served as the first Executive Director of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia (SBN), and Senior Director of Strategy and Development at the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE), an organization which supports over 50,000 locally-owned, independent businesses across the country to create a stronger fairer economy. Under Leanne’s leadership, SBN played a large role in making the Philadelphia region the most sustainable in the nation, helping attract more federal green jobs funding than any other region in the United States. She has received local and national attention for her work in economic development and public policy. She has been invited to the White House Business Council on multiple occasions to advise the Obama administration on the needs of local businesses. Within her first seven months in office, Leanne was named one of six national finalists for EMILY’s List’s Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award. She holds an MBA in Urban Economic Development from Eastern University and a BA from Rutgers University. She is also a BALLE Fellow, a Senior Fellow of the Environmental Leadership Program and a 2009 Pennsylvania Fellow of the Center for Progressive Leadership. Past awards include the B-Lab Champion of Change, 40 Under 40 from Pennsylvania Environmental Council, Next Generation of Leadership Rising Stars, and the Green Power Award from Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future. Leanne lives in Swarthmore with her young son Wendell and husband, Reverend David Braneky. The 161st District is comprised of Aston Township, Brookhaven Borough, Nether Providence Township, Ridley Township (part), Rutledge Borough, and Swarthmore Borough.
