Laury founded The Longfellow Clubs in Wayland, Sudbury, Natick, and Franklin, MA in 1980. He manages his group of health and sports clubs, holistic health centers, children’s centers, and camps that serve 10,000 members and is now the 54th largest health club business in the US with $16 million in annual revenues. In 1988, Laury founded the New England Businesses for Social Responsibility (NEBSR) which is now named the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Boston (SBN) He is SBN Boston's Executive Director. In 1991 he founded the national business group, Business for Social Responsibility (BSR). In 2001, Laury with Judy Wicks cofounded BALLE and for the first six years he served as its co-chair. Laury is the author of the book, Growing Local Value, which features over twenty local businesses that have made major contributions to their communities.
