Carlos organizes local businesses to advocate for social justice issues and the upward political and economic mobilization of under-served communities in Arizona.

Carlos is the founder and leader of Velasco Consulting LLC, in which he works with stakeholders, legislators, and interested parties to help communicate the significant environmental, economic and cultural benefits of his clients’ missions, products and/or services. He has a diverse portfolio of clients including Local First Arizona/Fuerza Local, The Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Adelante Public Affairs & Communications. A graduate of the Hispanic Leadership Institute, Carlos is deeply involved in public service. For the past eight years, Carlos has been an active supporter of Arizona Latino Research Enterprises, a bipartisan organization that advocates for education and political support to the Latino community in Arizona. In 2012, Carlos served on the Amigos for Carmona committee as part of the Carmona for US Senate campaign.


  • Engages Phoenix’s Spanish-speaking community in the “Buy Local” message through community events such as the annual Tianguis Festival.
  • Gives Spanish-speaking business owners the knowledge and skills they need to sustainably run their business through the Fuerza Local Business Accelerator Program.
  • Offers Spanish-speaking business owners new opportunities for raising capital to run and expand their businesses through the eMoney Pool for the Fuerza Local Business Accelerator Program.
  • Builds community among Spanish-speaking business owners through regular Fuerza Local networking mixers and events.
  • Creates awareness about the importance of the Spanish-speaking business community among the general public through outreach events and the media.
