Brian DePew Executive Director, Center for Rural Affairs Lyons, NE Act Local First, Prioritize Equity, Regenerate Soil & Nature, Shift Capital | Advocacy, Community Capital, Community Economic Development, Environmental Sustainability, Food and Agriculture, Rural Community Development, Technical Assistance, Worker Ownership Brian supports small business development, community building and policy advocacy with an anti-poverty agenda in rural communities across the U.S. Brian Depew serves as Executive Director of the Center for Rural Affairs based in Lyons, Nebraska. The Center engages in small business development, community building and policy advocacy. The Center works in Nebraska, across the region and throughout the nation. Brian also serves on the Board of the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition and the REAMP Climate Network. Brian holds a masters in philosophy from Colorado State University, and also studied environmental science and sociology at Simpson College and Michigan State University. He grew up on a family farm in Iowa. When not at the office, Brian can be found splitting wood, and tending to a large garden and a small flock of sheep on the acreage where he lives outside of Lyons.
